Access Control & Intercoms

Access Control & Intercoms covers the readers, controllers, locks, and door stations that verify identity and release a door at an entrance.

Credential type sets the underlying technology: 125 kHz RFID (EM/proximity), 13.56 MHz RFID (Mifare/NFC), biometric fingerprint, PIN keypad, or Bluetooth from a phone, with many current locks such as the SwitchBot Lock Ultra combining several methods in one device. Controllers typically talk to readers over Wiegand 26-bit or RS485, and IP intercoms add video and two-way audio at the door.

  • Lock type — electric strikes and electromagnetic locks (rated by holding force in kg) for controlled doors; standalone smart cylinders for retrofits without new wiring.
  • Credential — 13.56 MHz Mifare readers resist cloning better than 125 kHz EM; biometric terminals add fingerprint or face verification.
  • Environment — outdoor readers and door stations need IP65 housings; indoor monitors and exit buttons do not.
