BMS integration
Connect KNX panel data to Siemens Desigo, Johnson Controls, Honeywell EBI — via BACnet IP/MSTP. All KNX points available as BACnet objects.

What is BACnet and when is it used?
BACnet (Building Automation and Control Networks, ASHRAE 135) is the dominant protocol for HVAC, BMS and facility management systems. It is used in large commercial buildings (offices, hospitals, hotels) where Siemens, Johnson Controls, Honeywell or Distech systems manage HVAC. BACnet IP runs over standard Ethernet, BACnet MSTP over RS-485.
How does KNX communicate with BACnet?
A KNX-BACnet gateway translates KNX group addresses to BACnet Object Instances and vice versa. The gateway appears as a standard BACnet device on the IP network. BMS operators can then read/write KNX values from their BMS workstation without any knowledge of KNX.
Is BACnet better than Modbus for HVAC?
BACnet was designed specifically for HVAC and BMS — it has native concepts for alarms, schedules, trending and device discovery. Modbus is simpler and more universal but lacks these features. For new large commercial projects we recommend BACnet for HVAC integration; Modbus for energy metering and simple device I/O.
