How we use Ariston

Ariston's residential heat pump range centres on the Alteas ONE+ series (6, 8, 11, and 12 kW monobloc ASHP with integrated hydronic module). The Alteas ONE+ includes an integrated buffer tank, circulator pump, expansion vessel, and safety valve — simplifying installation compared to split-system heat pumps. The Genus ONE condensing gas boiler (18-30 kW) is Ariston's flagship residential boiler for Eastern European markets where gas heating remains prevalent. Both the Alteas ONE+ and Genus ONE support the optional NET module accessory for remote monitoring and Modbus TCP communication. The Ariston NET module (DIN rail, connects via Ariston proprietary BUS to the heat pump or boiler PCB) provides Modbus TCP on port 502 with default unit ID 1. The register map is documented in the Ariston NET module technical manual: Register 1 = flow temperature setpoint (°C × 10, read/write — write 550 for 55.0°C DHW setpoint), Register 5 = DHW setpoint (°C × 10), Register 100 = operating mode (0=off, 1=heating, 2=DHW only, 3=combined heating+DHW), Register 200 = fault code (0=no active fault, non-zero values reference Ariston fault code list). The Intesis IN701KNX gateway maps these registers to KNX group addresses: GA 8/0/0 flow temperature setpoint as DPT 9.001 (2-byte float), GA 8/0/1 operating mode as DPT 5.001, GA 8/0/4 fault as DPT 1.005. SG Ready integration for the Alteas ONE+ provides a simpler alternative to Modbus TCP when full register access is not required. The Alteas ONE+ control PCB has S1 and S2 terminals (SG Ready standard: two potential-free contacts). S1+S2 both closed = State 4 (forced DHW charge at maximum — emergency override). S1 closed only = State 3 (increased DHW setpoint and heating enabled — solar surplus mode). S1 and S2 both open = State 2 (normal mode). S2 closed only = State 1 (blocked/delay mode for grid management). A KNX relay actuator (e.g. MDT AKD-0401.02) directly controls the SG Ready contacts from a KNX GA responding to PV surplus logic — no NET module required for SG Ready. Ariston is the dominant residential heating brand in Romania, where it holds approximately 35% market share in gas boilers, and is strong in Poland, Bulgaria, and the Czech Republic. PanelCraft KNX panels for Eastern European projects typically include Ariston Genus ONE or Alteas ONE+ integration with local Modbus TCP via the NET module, complemented by SG Ready relay for rapid surplus response. Ariston FAQ

Is the Ariston NET module included with Alteas ONE+?

No — it is an optional accessory (ARI-NET) purchased separately and installed by a certified engineer. The Alteas ONE+ is delivered with SG Ready S1/S2 terminals accessible on the PCB — these work without the NET module for PV surplus relay control. The NET module is required only when full Modbus TCP register access (setpoint read/write, mode control, fault reading) is needed for KNX or energy management integration.

What is the Modbus TCP port for Ariston NET?

Port 502, unit ID 1 (default). These are standard defaults matching most Modbus TCP devices. If port 502 is in use on the network, the NET module Modbus TCP port can be changed in the Ariston NET module web interface (accessed via browser at the module's IP address). Unit ID cannot be changed from the default of 1 in current firmware — relevant only if two NET modules are on the same IP (not applicable with TCP).

Can Ariston Alteas ONE+ heat pump use SG Ready without the NET module?

Yes — SG Ready S1/S2 terminals on the HP control PCB accept relay contacts directly from KNX relay actuator without NET module. Wire KNX relay actuator output (volt-free contact) to Alteas ONE+ S1 terminal; S2 can be wired for State 4 (emergency charge) if required. Configure KNX logic: when PV export GA exceeds 2 kW threshold → send ON to relay actuator GA → S1 contact closes → SG Ready State 3 (increased setpoint). This is the recommended approach for PV surplus integration when Modbus TCP parameter access is not needed.
