Berker (a Hager Group brand since 1996) is a German manufacturer of high-quality electrical installation equipment and KNX devices. Founded in 1919, Berker is known for its distinctive design series — K.5 (steel frame), B.IQ, R.1, Q.3 — which compete directly with Gira's System 55 and Jung's A Creation for premium residential installations.

How we use Berker
Berker's design frames and switch rockers are a popular choice for architects who want a distinctive look that differs from the ubiquitous Gira System 55. The K.5 series in stainless steel or polished chrome is particularly popular in contemporary European villa projects. Berker KNX sensors and binary inputs share ETS device files and are fully interoperable with any KNX system.
In our panels, Berker binary inputs and push-button interfaces are used wherever the interior designer has specified Berker design frames. Their 4-fold binary inputs and KNX sensor modules mount in the same wall boxes as standard switches — the panel connects to the KNX TP bus in the standard way. Berker's EnOcean modules (Berker B.E.G.) offer batteryless wireless options in the same design frames.

Binary Input 4x (K.5)
4-channel binary input module for conventional switches or dry contacts. 230V or potential-free input options. Converts standard switches to KNX.
Presence/Motion Sensor KNX
Flush-mounted presence sensor with lux measurement. 180° detection zone. Sends occupancy and lux telegrams to KNX. Used for automatic DALI dimming.

Berker FAQ
Is Berker fully compatible with Gira or Jung KNX products?
Yes — all KNX-certified devices from any manufacturer are interoperable. You can combine Berker push-buttons with Hager actuators and MDT gateways freely. ETS programs the communication objects regardless of brand.
Are Berker design frames compatible with standard flush-mounted boxes?
Yes — Berker K.5, B.IQ and R.1 series fit standard 60mm flush-mounted back-boxes (DIN EN 60670). The KNX sensor modules clip behind standard Berker cover frames.
Is Berker part of Hager Group?
Yes — Hager Group acquired Berker in 1996. The brands are sold separately but share manufacturing infrastructure. In practice, Berker design frames often pair with Hager KNX actuators in the panel.
Do Berker EnOcean switches need separate certification in ETS?
Berker B.E.G. EnOcean modules are certified to the EnOcean standard (ISO 14543-3-10). They appear in the EnOcean gateway's configuration, not directly in ETS. The gateway (e.g. Weinzierl ENO 634) then maps them to KNX group addresses in ETS.
