Tesira DSP Commercial Audio — TCP/RS-232 Integration with KNX Building Automation
Biamp (Beaverton, Oregon, USA, founded 1976) manufactures professional DSP audio processors for commercial environments — Tesira FORTE AI is the standard conference room and multi-zone audio processor in corporate offices, hospitality, and higher education. KNX integration: KNX binary output relay or RS-232 command → Tesira DEVICE recallPreset command → audio preset recall. Meeting room automation: room occupied → KNX triggers Tesira "Meeting" preset (conference microphone, HDMI route, volume 40%). Room empty → "Standby" preset (mute all).

How we use Biamp
Tesira FORTE AI specifications: 12 analogue inputs, 8 analogue outputs, 8 AEC channels, Dante network audio (AES67 compatible), BLU-link expansion bus (up to 256 AEC channels), RS-232 and TCP/IP control ports. Tesira software (Windows): DSP programming — drag-and-drop signal flow (mic pre-amps, EQ, AGC, matrix router, amplifier drive). Presets: store complete signal routing and level configuration (e.g., Preset 1 = Conference, Preset 2 = Presentation, Preset 3 = Standby). Up to 64 presets per Tesira. TesiraFORTE AUTO: auto-configuration for quick deployment. KNX integration via TCP command: Tesira FORTE TCP port 23 (telnet-compatible). KNX integration path: KNX binary output relay → GlobalCache iTach Flex (IP to RS-232, or IP to TCP relay) → TCP session to Tesira → send SIS command "DEVICE recallPreset 1\n". Alternatively: Home Assistant with Biamp Tesira integration (biamp-tesira custom component) → HA KNX integration: when KNX GA 6/2/0 = 1 (Meeting Room Occupied) → HA service call Tesira preset recall 1. Tesira TCP command set: DEVICE recallPreset {n}, DEVICESETTINGS input n volumeLevel {dB}, DEVICESETTINGS output n mute {true/false}. Devio conferencing hub: Biamp Devio SCX 800 (USB-C conferencing hub for Teams/Zoom, 8 channels, REST API). For smaller meeting rooms: Devio replaces Tesira at lower cost. REST API: HTTP POST http://devio_ip/api/v1/preset/recall with JSON body {"preset": 1}. KNX integration: same Home Assistant bridge approach — KNX trigger → HA → Devio REST API. Devio Parlé TCM-XA ceiling microphone (4-channel AEC, USB, pairs with Devio SCX 800). AV room automation use case: 10 meeting rooms with Tesira FORTE AI per room. KNX room booking integration: Microsoft Exchange/Teams room calendar → Home Assistant calendar integration → meeting start → KNX GA 6/2/0 = 1 (room occupied) → Tesira preset 1 (Meeting) + DALI lights 80% + blind 50% open + HVAC setpoint 21°C. Meeting end → HA → KNX GA 6/2/0 = 0 (unoccupied after 10 min delay) → Tesira preset 3 (Standby) + lights off + HVAC eco. Single KNX push-button override: "All Off" scene → Tesira standby + lights off + HVAC eco simultaneously.
Integration via TCP/IP command or RS-232 through Home Assistant KNX bridge — Tesira DSP preset recall on KNX room occupancy triggers. Meeting room automation combining audio, lighting, blind, and HVAC via KNX scene recall.

Biamp products
Key components we install
Tesira FORTE AI
Fixed architecture DSP server for conference rooms and multi-zone commercial audio. 12 analogue inputs, 8 analogue outputs, 8 AEC channels, Dante AES67 network audio, BLU-link expansion. RS-232 (9600 baud) and TCP/IP (port 23, telnet) control ports accept SIS command set for KNX integration via Home Assistant or GlobalCache. Up to 64 presets for room mode automation.
Tesira SERVER-IO
Modular DSP server for large commercial buildings — multiple Tesira SERVER-IO units networked via BLU-link bus, up to 256 AEC channels across a campus. TCP/IP control port for KNX integration. Used in corporate headquarters, universities, and convention centres where a centralised DSP infrastructure serves multiple meeting rooms and public address zones.
Devio SCX 800
Compact USB-C conferencing hub for Microsoft Teams and Zoom Rooms — 8-channel audio processing, USB-C connection to room PC, REST API (HTTP POST) for preset recall. Lower cost alternative to Tesira FORTE AI for small meeting rooms (up to 8 people). KNX integration via Home Assistant REST API call. Pairs with Parlé TCM-XA ceiling microphone.
Parlé TCM-XA Ceiling Microphone
Ceiling-mounted beamforming microphone array, 4-channel AEC, USB connection to Devio SCX 800 or host PC. Provides 360° room coverage without table microphones. Suits open-plan meeting rooms and boardrooms. Paired with Devio SCX 800 for complete conferencing system; integrates with KNX-triggered room automation scenarios.
TesiraFORTE AUTO
TesiraFORTE AUTO with automatic AEC and routing configuration for faster deployment compared to full Tesira software programming. Same TCP/IP control port (port 23) as FORTE AI for KNX integration via Home Assistant preset recall. Suited for standardised meeting rooms where speed of deployment is prioritised over custom signal flow programming.
Biamp FAQ
Does Biamp Tesira have a native KNX protocol?
No — Tesira communicates via TCP/IP (telnet, port 23) or RS-232 using Biamp SIS command protocol. KNX integration is via middleware (Home Assistant, GlobalCache, AMX, Crestron) that bridges KNX events to Tesira TCP commands. Biamp does not manufacture a KNX TP module.
Can multiple Tesira presets be recalled from a single KNX GA?
No — each KNX GA value (DPT 5.010, 0–255) maps to one preset number via middleware logic. GA value 1 → Preset 1, value 2 → Preset 2, etc. One GA can recall any preset by sending different values. Alternatively: one KNX binary GA per preset (simpler, uses more GAs).
Biamp vs QSC Q-SYS for KNX integration?
Both are enterprise DSP platforms with TCP/RS-232 control. QSC Q-SYS uses UCI (User Control Interface) plugin framework with KNX plugin available from QSC design partner community. Biamp Tesira integration requires Home Assistant or GlobalCache. Both achieve same result — choose based on AV system designer preference and local support.
