BTicino (Varese, Italy — founded 1936, Legrand Group since 1989) is Italy's most-specified brand for residential and commercial electrical installation. The Livinglight and Axolute design families offer BTicino's full range of KNX-certified pushbuttons, motion detectors, and room controllers in Italian design language — flush-mounted, with distinctive horizontal split-frame aesthetics preferred by Italian architects and interior designers. BTicino's own MyHOME SCS bus (Sound Controlled System — a proprietary 2-wire bus with different protocol from KNX) serves the mid-market residential sector in Italy. A KNX/MyHOME gateway enables hybrid installations where MyHOME SCS is used in renovations and KNX in commercial or premium residential. Legrand group brands (BTicino in Italy, Legrand in France, Bticino in Brazil) share distribution infrastructure across Southern Europe.

How we use BTicino
BTicino KNX product range: Livinglight KNX pushbutton interface (2, 4, or 8 button configurations, ETS6 certified, DPT 1.001/4.001/5.001 for lighting and blind control), Axolute KNX cover plate (premium glass/aluminium for Livinglight KNX mechanism), Axolute 4-input motion detector (180° coverage, lux threshold, time delay, all KNX certified). MyHOME SCS bus: BTicino's own 2-wire automation bus (bus cable + bus power on same 2 wires, up to 175 devices per segment), widely installed in Italian apartments built 2000-2015. MyHOME SCS devices include: F411 DIN-rail actuator, F31 IR receiver, F41/2 2-button touch interface. KNX/MyHOME gateway (F20EN): DIN-rail, bridges up to 100 SCS devices to KNX TP — enables older MyHOME installations to gain ETS6 KNX management and new smart home functions without replacing wiring.
BTicino Livinglight KNX switches replace standard switch plates in Italian-specified projects. The Livinglight mechanism mounts in any BTicino flush box (503E or 506E) — same footprint as standard Italian switch plates (60mm × 60mm module). Multiple mechanisms in a multi-gang frame (2, 3, or 4 modules). Each KNX pushbutton couples to KNX TP via 4-wire bus connection on screw terminals on the mechanism rear (red/black for bus power, yellow/green for bus data). KNX physical address assigned via ETS6 — devices auto-assign from bus scan if no address set. Panel wiring: KNX TP cable runs from distribution panel KNX power supply throughout building to each Livinglight flush box location — same standard KNX TP wiring practice as all other brands.

Livinglight KNX 4-Button Interface
4 independently programmable pushbutton channels, ETS6 certified, DPT 1.001 (switch), DPT 5.001 (dimming value), DPT 4.001 (scene recall). Compatible with Axolute frame for premium glass or aluminium surround. For lighting control: short press = toggle, long press = dim up/down (DPT 3.007). For blind control: short press = stop, long press = up/down (DPT 1.008). Fits standard Italian flush box 503E or 506E. KNX TP bus powered via 4-wire terminal on rear. Two-LED status per button, configurable for feedback in ETS6.
MyHOME KNX Gateway (F20EN)
Bridges BTicino MyHOME SCS bus to KNX TP bus, DIN-rail mounted. Maps up to 100 SCS bus devices (F411 actuators, F41 switches, F31 IR receivers) to KNX group addresses for ETS6 programming. ETS6 plug-in imports SCS device topology and generates group address mapping automatically. For renovation projects: install F20EN in existing distribution panel, retain all SCS wiring and devices, add new KNX actuators and sensors on the KNX side — SCS devices become KNX senders/receivers without rewiring.
Livinglight KNX PIR Motion Detector
180° coverage PIR presence/motion detector, configurable lux threshold (in ETS6), time delay 5 seconds to 30 minutes. KNX TP bus powered, DPT 1.001 presence output (1 = occupied). Dual-tech PIR+microwave option for higher false-alarm immunity in HVAC-disturbed environments. Flush mounts in standard Italian box, Livinglight frame compatible. For HVAC and lighting automation: presence telegram to KNX GA drives lighting actuator and thermostat comfort/standby mode simultaneously from single sensor.
Livinglight KNX 2-Button with LED
2-button KNX pushbutton with configurable backlight LED status indicator per button. ETS6 certified, DPT 1.001/5.001/4.001. LED colour and function configurable in ETS6 — feedback from actuator status group address for indication of actual load state (not just button press). For Italian standard flush boxes 503E and 506E. Minimum installation for single-room lighting control where 4-button interface is not required. Combined with Livinglight standard mechanisms in multi-gang frame for mixed KNX/standard switch plates in same location.
Axolute Glass Frame 2-Module
Premium metal-glass surround frame for Livinglight mechanisms in the Axolute design range, 2-module width. Available finishes: steel, stainless, and anthracite for designer interior specification. No electrical function — purely aesthetic frame that upgrades standard Livinglight mechanisms to Axolute premium appearance. Specified by Italian interior architects for high-value residential and boutique hotel projects. Compatible with all Livinglight KNX mechanisms including NT4571 4-button and NT4131 2-button.

Can BTicino Livinglight KNX devices work with KNX devices from other manufacturers like Gira or ABB?
Yes — BTicino Livinglight KNX devices are certified by the KNX Association and are fully interoperable with all KNX-certified devices from any manufacturer. In ETS6, BTicino devices use the same group address system as Gira, MDT, ABB, or any other KNX brand. A BTicino pushbutton sends a DPT 1.001 telegram on button press; an MDT relay actuator receives it on the same group address and switches — this is standard KNX interoperability. The only difference between brands is physical design (frame, button aesthetics) and device parameter options in ETS6 — the underlying KNX protocol is identical.
What is MyHOME SCS and how does it differ from KNX?
BTicino MyHOME SCS (Sound Controlled System) is BTicino's proprietary 2-wire home automation bus, widely installed in Italian apartments built between 2000 and 2018. SCS uses the same 2-wire cable for both data and power (like KNX TP) but with a completely different protocol — SCS telegrams are not compatible with KNX. SCS is simpler to install (no professional training required) but less flexible than KNX — limited to BTicino-brand devices only, no third-party interoperability. For renovation projects: the F20EN KNX/MyHOME gateway bridges up to 100 SCS devices to a KNX bus, enabling SCS devices to appear as KNX group address senders/receivers in ETS6. This allows incremental upgrade — keep existing SCS wiring and devices, add KNX actuators and programming layer.
Are BTicino products available outside Italy?
BTicino is primarily specified in Italy, North Africa, and parts of South America (Brazil, Chile, Mexico under the BTicino brand). In France, the equivalent Legrand range (Céliane, Mosaic) is used — same group company, different product range for French flush boxes (French standard uses different box dimensions than Italian). In other EU countries: BTicino products can be special-ordered through Legrand Group distributors, but local alternatives (Gira System 55, Schneider Unica, ABB) are typically better stocked. For Italian-specified international projects (luxury villas in Monaco, France, Malta, or overseas for Italian-nationality clients): BTicino Axolute is commonly specified as part of an all-Italian design brief.
