How we use Distech Controls

The ECLYPSE Connected Room Controller (CRC) is a DIN-rail BACnet/IP direct digital controller with 10 universal analog inputs, 4 analog outputs (0-10V), and 6 digital outputs (relay). The CRC is designed for room-level HVAC control: VAV box control, fan coil unit (FCU) management, and room temperature regulation. The ECLYPSE Configurator web interface (embedded HTTP server) provides point configuration, control loop tuning, and BACnet object browsing without additional software. The DTE-ECLYPSE-KNX module adds native KNXnet/IP connectivity to the ECLYPSE CRC. The ETS6 application for DTE-ECLYPSE-KNX is downloaded from distech-controls.com/resources and imported into the ETS6 project. The application automatically creates KNX group objects for each BACnet data point tagged for KNX export in ECLYPSE Configurator. Analog Input/Output data points map to DPT 9.001 (temperature, humidity, 2-byte float) or DPT 5.001 (percentage 0-100%). Binary Values map to DPT 1.001 (on/off) or DPT 1.005 (alarm). The physical address is set in ETS6 in the usual manner; the KNX interface mode (KNXnet/IP tunnelling via IP router) is configured in ECLYPSE Configurator. Bidirectional BACnet/KNX mapping is the key advantage of the ECLYPSE native module approach: a KNX room thermostat sends measured temperature (DPT 9.001) to a KNX GA, which the ECLYPSE module writes to a BACnet Analog Input — the ECLYPSE VAV control loop uses this measured value directly, replacing or overriding the local ECLYPSE sensor. The ECLYPSE then writes the calculated valve position (0-100%) to a BACnet Analog Output, which maps back to a KNX GA controlling a KNX actuator driving the physical valve. This full bidirectional loop is achievable within a single ECLYPSE KNX module — no third-party gateway in the data path. For multi-controller plants (hospital ward with 40+ rooms, university building), the EC-BOS-9 BACnet Object Server provides a supervisory layer: it aggregates all ECLYPSE controllers on the BACnet/IP network and provides alarm management, trend logging, and setpoint scheduling. For KNX-BACnet integration at the supervisory level (rather than room level), a LOYTEC LBRIDGE or similar BACnet/KNX gateway between EC-BOS and the KNX building backbone is the recommended architecture — leaving the ECLYPSE CRC + DTE-ECLYPSE-KNX module for room-level bidirectional control.

Does ECLYPSE require a separate KNX/BACnet gateway?

No — the DTE-ECLYPSE-KNX module provides native KNX integration without a third-party gateway. The module plugs into the ECLYPSE CRC, provides a KNXnet/IP tunnelling interface, and is programmed via ETS6 using the Distech ETS6 application downloaded from distech-controls.com. This eliminates the cost, complexity, and additional failure point of a separate BACnet/KNX gateway device.

Can I programme ECLYPSE from ETS6?

No — ETS6 is used to configure KNX group addresses only. ECLYPSE control logic (VAV sequence, PI loops, setpoint schedules) is programmed in Distech EIKON (graphical, browser-based, similar to Loxone Config) or EC-gfxProgram (ladder logic). The DTE-ECLYPSE-KNX ETS6 application only configures which BACnet data points appear as KNX group objects and which KNX group addresses they link to.

How many KNX group objects can ECLYPSE support?

Up to 120 KNX group objects per ECLYPSE module, corresponding to configured BACnet data points. This covers a typical hotel room (temperature setpoint, measured temperature, valve position, fan speed, presence, window contact, lighting scenes = approximately 15-20 GOs) with significant headroom. For larger rooms or suites requiring more GOs, multiple ECLYPSE CRC units with individual DTE-ECLYPSE-KNX modules can be used.
