Hanwha Vision (Seoul, South Korea — formerly Samsung Techwin, rebranded 2015 after Samsung sold its CCTV and security electronics division to Hanwha Group) manufactures the Wisenet Q, X, P, and A series of IP video surveillance cameras. The Samsung Techwin heritage gives Hanwha Vision significant brand recognition among European security integrators who specified Samsung CCTV systems prior to 2015. Wisenet cameras are widely used in European retail, corporate, municipal, and transportation CCTV installations.

How we use Hanwha Vision

Wisenet series hierarchy: Wisenet Q (standard AI, PoE, 2–8MP) is the entry/mid range for commercial applications; Wisenet X (enhanced AI, 4K, anti-corrosion stainless steel option for marine/food processing environments) targets demanding applications; Wisenet P (flat-faced vandal dome for retail ceilings) focuses on aesthetics and anti-vandal resistance; Wisenet A (access control cameras with built-in face recognition, dual-lens, 2MP+2MP for face capture and wide view simultaneously). All Wisenet models share the same NDIS web interface and Wisenet WAVE VMS. Wisenet WAVE VMS: Hanwha Vision's own video management software, available as a standalone Windows server or as Wisenet WAVE Embedded on the QNO-8080R NVR. WAVE uses WebRTC for browser-based live view and playback without plugins. Key integration capability: WAVE HTTP API (REST) allows external systems to search recordings, trigger bookmark events, receive motion/line crossing alert webhooks. For KNX integration: WAVE webhook → Home Assistant → KNX IP integration → 1-bit group address for motion-triggered lighting or recording-triggered access control log. European certifications and NDAA status: Hanwha Vision is NOT on the NDAA 2019 Section 889 ban list, as it is a South Korean company with manufacturing in Korea, Vietnam, and the US (Hanwha Techwin America). Wisenet cameras carry CE marking for EMC and LVD (EU), and meet EN 50132-2 (IEC 62676-2) for IP video surveillance cameras. What is the relationship between Samsung CCTV and Hanwha Vision?

Samsung Techwin was Samsung Group's defence and security electronics subsidiary, manufacturing CCTV cameras and radar systems. In 2015, Samsung Group sold Samsung Techwin to Hanwha Group, a South Korean conglomerate. The CCTV business was renamed Hanwha Techwin (later Hanwha Vision in 2023). The Wisenet brand name (which appeared on Samsung CCTV products since 2011) was retained and continues across the Wisenet Q/X/P/A series. Samsung Electronics (smartphones, TVs) has NO involvement with Hanwha Vision. European installers who specified 'Samsung CCTV' cameras before 2015 are now working with what is sold as Hanwha Vision / Wisenet.

Can Hanwha Wisenet cameras integrate with Milestone XProtect without Wisenet WAVE?

Yes. Hanwha Vision has a certified MIP (Milestone Integration Platform) driver for Wisenet cameras, included in the Milestone XProtect Device Pack. Wisenet cameras appear in XProtect as standard IP cameras supporting ONVIF Profile S video streaming and Profile T analytics events (motion, line crossing, intrusion zone, face detection). The Device Pack driver also exposes Wisenet-specific analytics (people counting, heatmap data) as XProtect analytics events. For Genetec Security Center, Hanwha Vision provides a certified GSDK integration. Wisenet WAVE is an alternative for installations committed to the Hanwha ecosystem — it offers tighter AI analytics integration and the Wisenet AI Box server.
