Ultrasource Heat Pumps and AHUs with BACnet KNX Integration
Hoval (Vaduz, Liechtenstein) manufactures high-end heating and ventilation systems including the Hoval Ultrasource B series air-to-water heat pumps (5–60 kW), TopVent ventilation units, and CHA boilers. Hoval GreenController building management controller supports BACnet/IP and Modbus for KNX integration.

How we use Hoval
Hoval Ultrasource B 10 kW KNX integration: Hoval provides the TopTronic E controller (touch panel, built-in BACnet/IP client). BACnet/IP object list: AI-0 (outdoor temperature, degC), AI-1 (supply flow temperature), AI-2 (return temperature), AI-3 (DHW temperature), AO-0 (heat curve setpoint offset, degC), BO-0 (heat pump on/off command), BI-0 (compressor running), BI-1 (alarm active). LOYTEC LGATE-950 bridges BACnet/IP to KNX: TopTronic E BACnet device at 192.168.x.x port 47808, LGATE discovers objects, maps to KNX GAs. KNX integration via Intesis INBACKNX1100000 (BACnet/IP to KNX gateway, DIN rail 100mm): AI-0 maps to KNX DPT 9.001 (GA 6/0/1), AO-0 accepts KNX DPT 9.001 write from thermostat GA. Hoval GreenController BMS: dedicated multi-system controller supporting multiple Hoval units, BACnet MS/TP fieldbus (RS485). GreenController also supports Modbus RTU downstream — consult Hoval datasheet for specific register map per unit type. TopVent AHU: RS485 Modbus RTU, baud 9600, 8N1. Registers: 0 (fan mode), 1 (setpoint temperature), 10 (supply air temp), 11 (extract temp), 20 (CO2 ppm). Same Modbus gateway approach as Swegon GOLD. SG Ready: Hoval Ultrasource B supports SG Ready 2-contact dry-contact interface on controller board. Wire via KNX binary output for grid-aware heating.

TopVent MH Air Heater
Gas-fired or hot water ceiling air heater. Modbus RTU RS485 (9600/8N1) for fan speed and temperature setpoint control. KNX integration via MDT or Weinzierl Modbus RTU gateway.
GreenController BMS
Hoval multi-system BMS controller with BACnet/IP, BACnet MS/TP, and Modbus RTU. Aggregates multiple Hoval heat pumps and AHUs. Single BACnet/IP interface to LOYTEC LGATE-950 for full site KNX integration.
Hoval FAQ
Does Hoval support direct KNX integration?
Hoval does not offer a native KNX interface. Integration is via BACnet/IP (TopTronic E controller) through a BACnet-to-KNX gateway (LOYTEC LGATE-950 or Intesis INBACKNX1100000) or via Modbus RTU RS485 through a Modbus-KNX gateway. Contact Hoval technical support for the specific BACnet object list for your unit model.
