How we use MDT Technologies
MDT's KNX IP Router (SCN-IP100.03) is our first-choice IP interface in almost every panel. Its feature set is unmatched: group address filtering per line, 256 individual/group/broadcast tunnelling connections, detailed diagnostics and a web UI for configuration without ETS. The MDT binary input module BE-08230.01 is our standard panel-side input — 8 channels, dry contact, extremely reliable over 10+ years of field installations. For logic-heavy projects (astronomical time switch, energy management, complex scene control), MDT's Logic Controller GLK-1216.03 runs ETS-programmed logic locally.
MDT provides the intelligence layer in our panels. The IP router handles all KNX/IP communication — ETS remote programming, Ethernet backbone, cloud gateway. Binary inputs read physical signals (push-buttons, door contacts, window sensors). The logic controller runs schedules, calculations and scene management that would otherwise require a separate visualisation server. For multi-line installations, MDT's KNX line coupler (SCN-LC0401.01) connects up to 4 sub-lines to the main line with filtering.

Why do engineers prefer MDT's KNX IP router over other brands?
MDT's SCN-IP100.03 supports up to 256 simultaneous KNX/IP tunnelling connections — most competitors offer 4–16. This means many ETS instances, visualisation systems, mobile apps and integration gateways can all access the KNX bus simultaneously without conflicts. The built-in web UI for diagnostics and group address filtering also reduces time during commissioning.
What is MDT's logic controller used for?
The GLK-1216.03 replaces what would otherwise require a full visualisation server (like Gira HomeServer) for logic tasks. It runs: astronomical time switch (sunrise/sunset-based scenes without internet), mathematical calculations (energy totals, average temperatures), multi-condition scenes (IF window open AND temperature > 24°C THEN close blind), and heating controller functions with hysteresis.
Do MDT actuators have per-channel current measurement?
Yes, the AKD series actuators measure current per channel. This allows the KNX system to detect failed light bulbs, jammed motors or overloaded circuits — and send an alarm to the visualisation. In commercial buildings, this significantly reduces maintenance time by pinpointing faults remotely.
