Wallbox
Smart EV Charging for Homes and Businesses
Wallbox (Barcelona, Spain) makes smart EV charging stations — the Pulsar Plus is one of Europe's best-selling residential wallboxes. Their OCPP 1.6J implementation and local smart charging API (eco-smart PV surplus mode) make Wallbox the preferred choice for KNX-integrated EV charging installations.

How we use Wallbox
Technical detail — Pulsar Plus 7.4 kW single-phase, Commander 2 22 kW three-phase. OCPP 1.6J local mode: Wallbox acts as OCPP charge point, local OCPP server (Home Assistant OCPP integration or IP-Symcon module) acts as central system. KNX binary output → OCPP ChangeAvailability command to enable/disable charging. KNX 9.001 reads active charge power from OCPP StatusNotification + MeterValues messages. Eco-Smart: Wallbox reads excess PV power from Modbus or OCPP SetChargingProfile — KNX logic writes available surplus watts to Wallbox via OCPP SetChargingProfile (charging rate unit: A, minimum 6A). Commander 2 also supports Modbus TCP register map (reg 100: charging current A, reg 200: session energy Wh). myWallbox cloud provides fleet management but local OCPP is preferred for building automation.
KNX controls Wallbox via OCPP 1.6J local mode — binary output for enable/disable, DPT 9.001 for charge power feedback, and self-consumption PV surplus logic via OCPP SetChargingProfile.

Wallbox FAQ
How does Wallbox integrate with KNX?
Via OCPP 1.6J local mode or Modbus TCP on Commander 2 — KNX Modbus gateway reads charge power and enables/disables charging.
Does Wallbox support PV self-consumption?
Yes — Eco-Smart mode uses OCPP SetChargingProfile to throttle charging based on surplus PV power reported by KNX logic.
What is the minimum charge current?
6A (1.38 kW single-phase), adjustable in 1A steps up to 32A maximum.
