Weinzierl
German KNX gateway specialist — IP routers, BAOS modules and EnOcean bridges.
Weinzierl Engineering GmbH (founded 1998 in Bavaria) is a specialist KNX manufacturer focused on gateways, interfaces and embedded modules. They are the OEM behind many branded KNX IP routers and BAOS (Bus Access and Object Server) modules — used in thousands of software integrations. If you're writing custom software to read KNX group values, you're probably talking to a Weinzierl BAOS.

How we use Weinzierl
Weinzierl's product philosophy is technical depth over broad range. Their KNX IP Router 750 is one of the most reliable on the market — small, DIN-rail mounted, with solid tunnelling performance. The KNX BAOS modules (777, 879) are the hardware backbone for third-party software integration: they expose KNX group values via a simple binary or JSON API over TCP.
In our panels, Weinzierl devices appear in two contexts: IP routing (KNX IP Router 750 for reliable tunnelling connections from ETS and HA) and EnOcean bridging (ENO 634 gateway translating EnOcean radio telegrams to KNX group addresses). For projects requiring custom software integration, we include a Weinzierl BAOS 879 for application access to KNX data.

Key components we install
KNX IP Router 750
DIN rail IP router + IP interface. 5 tunnelling connections. Supports ETS routing, group telegram filtering, backbone coupler mode. Small footprint (2 DIN modules). Very reliable.
KNX BAOS 879
KNX Bus Access and Object Server. REST API over TCP for reading/writing KNX group addresses from any programming language. Used for custom dashboards, integrations, and third-party software.
KNX BAOS 777
Smaller BAOS module (RS-232/RS-485 interface). Used in embedded systems and custom hardware integrations where Ethernet is not available.
KNX ENO 634
DIN-rail EnOcean-to-KNX gateway. 128 EnOcean devices, full ETS configuration, bidirectional support. The market-leading choice for KNX + EnOcean batteryless switch integration.
KNX USB Interface
USB to KNX TP interface for ETS programming. Plug into laptop USB, ETS recognises as KNX interface. No additional power supply. Used for commissioning and diagnostics.
KNX IP Interface 730
IP to KNX interface (not router). Tunnelling only — no routing. Used when a project needs ETS access and monitoring but has one area/line only.
Weinzierl FAQ
Is the Weinzierl IP Router 750 better than MDT SCN-IP100?
Both are excellent. MDT offers 256 tunnelling connections vs Weinzierl's 5 — making MDT the choice for large commissioning teams or many simultaneous app connections. For single-ETS installations with HA, Weinzierl's 750 is reliable and cost-effective.
What is KNX BAOS and why would I need it?
BAOS (Bus Access and Object Server) provides a REST or binary TCP API to read/write KNX group addresses from any programming language — Python, Node.js, C#, etc. It's the standard interface when you're building custom dashboards, integrating KNX with a BMS, or writing your own control application.
Can the ENO 634 work with any EnOcean devices?
Yes — it supports all standard EnOcean EEP profiles (rocker switches, temperature sensors, occupancy sensors, etc.). You configure each device's 32-bit ID and EEP in ETS, then assign its communication objects to KNX group addresses.
Does Weinzierl supply OEM products to other brands?
Yes — many branded KNX IP interfaces and BAOS modules are actually Weinzierl hardware with a different label. This is common knowledge in the KNX industry. The original Weinzierl hardware typically has identical firmware.
