Zumtobel Group (Dornbirn, Austria, founded 1950) manufactures premium architectural lighting under the Zumtobel brand and LED drivers and controls under the Tridonic brand — both DALI-2 certified (IEC 62386). Zumtobel luminaires cover office, healthcare, education, and retail applications, factory-fitted with Tridonic DALI-2 drivers (DT8 colour temperature, Part 202/203 emergency). Tridonic is the leading European DALI-2 driver manufacturer — its LC and basicdim DALI-2 drivers are OEM-fitted in luminaires by Zumtobel, Trilux, Waldmann, and hundreds of other European brands.

How we use Zumtobel
Zumtobel luminaire range: CRAFT LED (premium suspended office luminaire, 40W–100W, IP20, Tridonic DT8 DALI-2 driver, CRI 90+), ARCOS (surface/recessed emergency, Part 202 self-test, 3-hour duration, EN 50172 automated test schedule), TECTON (track system for retail and hospitality, DALI-2 spot adjustment), SLOTLIGHT (linear pendant and recessed for corridors), MIREL HCL (healthcare human-centric lighting, 2700K–6500K tunable white). All Zumtobel luminaires carry CE marking, ENEC (European safety), and DALI-2 certification (DiiA compliance). Emergency luminaires carry EN 60598-2-22 and EN 50172 compliance marks. Tridonic DALI-2 drivers: Tridonic LC 75W DALI-2 (75W, 100–240V AC, DT8 tunable white, Part 201+207 certified, dim-to-1%, THD < 15%), Tridonic basicdim M DALI-2 (cost-effective DT0 constant lumen, for standard luminaires), Tridonic LC 100W DALI-2 emergency (Part 202 self-test driver, 6V 3Ah NiMH backup, 3-hour duration, test results via DALI status query). Tridonic drivers are OEM-supplied to third-party luminaire manufacturers across Europe — if a luminaire uses Tridonic LC driver, it carries full DALI-2 Part 201/207 capability regardless of luminaire brand. Tridonic also manufactures the TC PRO DALI-2 controller (standalone DALI-2 master for small systems without KNX). DT8 tunable white programming: DALI Part 207 Device Type 8 allows colour temperature control (Tc mode: 1000–20000 Mirek, i.e., 1000000/CCT). In Helvar Imagine or MDT DALI gateway ETS6 plug-in: DALI scan identifies DT8 devices by capability flag. Scene programming stores both dim level AND colour temperature in each scene — 80% + 4000K for office work, 40% + 2700K for evening relaxation. Circadian schedule via KNX time module: sends CCT values every 30 minutes following a natural daylight curve (2700K at 07:00 → 5500K at 12:00 → 2700K at 21:00). DT8 DALI command: SetColorTemperature sends Mirek value to driver. EN 50172 emergency compliance: Zumtobel ARCOS with Tridonic Part 202 driver integrates emergency test scheduling in the DALI controller. Helvar Imagine or LOYTEC LINX: configure monthly function test (30-minute illumination) and annual duration test (3-hour full illumination). Test results published as DALI status query responses — pass/fail per luminaire. Test log exported as CSV for EN 50172 compliance record (required by UK Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 and equivalent EU legislation).

Are Tridonic DT8 drivers compatible with any DALI-2 controller?
Yes — Tridonic DT8 drivers are IEC 62386 Part 201 + 207 certified and interoperate with any DALI-2 certified controller (Helvar Router 950, MDT SCN-DALI.01, LOYTEC L-DALI-3, Tridonic TC PRO). DALI-2 certification (DiiA mark) guarantees interoperability between any two certified products.
What is the difference between DALI Part 207 Tc and XY modes?
Part 207 Tc (colour temperature) mode sets a correlated colour temperature (CCT) in Kelvin — suitable for white light tunable white luminaires. XY mode uses CIE 1931 x,y colour coordinates — suitable for RGBW or full-colour luminaires. Zumtobel tunable white luminaires use Tc mode (2700K–6500K). For RGB architectural lighting, specify DT8 with XY or RGBWAF sub-type instead.
How long does ARCOS emergency self-test take and does it interrupt normal lighting?
The monthly function test (30-second illumination from battery) does not interrupt mains-powered lighting — the ARCOS runs from battery while mains continues. The annual duration test (3-hour full-battery discharge) must be scheduled during unoccupied hours (e.g., 02:00–05:00) as the test mode may briefly interrupt normal operation. Schedule via DALI controller (Helvar Imagine or LINX Configurator) and confirm test log export.
