Security & Alarm

Security & Alarm covers the panels, detectors and output devices that make up an intrusion or fire alarm system.

The category structures around the alarm signal path: an intrusion panel or expander processes inputs from door/window contacts, PIR motion detectors, and glass-break sensors, then triggers sirens, strobes and a GSM/IP communicator to notify a monitoring station. Wireless zones typically use 433MHz or 868MHz radio, while wired zones use resistor end-of-line supervision.

  • Panel capacity — number of wired and wireless zones the intrusion panel supports
  • Detector type — PIR for motion, magnetic contacts for doors/windows, glass-break for perimeter
  • Notification path — GSM/IP communicator for remote alerts, siren/strobe for local deterrence
