Smart home servers

Smart home servers are the central controller that runs the logic, scenes and scheduling for a wired building automation installation.

Unlike a consumer hub, capacity is set by a licensed address count — entry servers cover a few hundred addresses, larger units scale to 1,500 or more — and by room licenses that unlock control of a set number of rooms, sold in increments and upgradeable later without replacing the hardware. A Mini server suits a single apartment, while an unlimited license fits a full commercial building.

  • Address capacity — match the server's licensed address count to the number of devices in the installation, with headroom for future additions
  • Room licenses — buy licenses in the increments the project needs (8, 12, 20, 50 rooms) rather than an oversized package
  • Upgrade path — a Mini server can be upgraded in place to a higher address count or an unlimited license as the installation grows
