IP cameras (ONVIF/PoE) transmit digital video over an Ethernet network and receive both data and power through a single Cat5e/6 cable via Power over Ethernet.

ONVIF Profile S compliance lets a camera register with third-party NVR and VMS software regardless of brand, so buyers should confirm ONVIF support alongside resolution and lens type before mixing manufacturers on one recorder. Fixed-lens models suit a set field of view, while motorized varifocal lenses (e.g. 2.7-13.5 mm) allow the angle to be tuned after mounting.

• Resolution — 3MP covers most corridors and entrances; 5MP and 8MP suit wide areas or licence-plate detail at distance.
• PoE class — 802.3af (up to 15.4 W) powers most fixed cameras; 802.3at (up to 30 W) is needed for heaters, IR arrays, or motorized zoom.
• Housing rating — IP66/IP67 for outdoor domes and bullets; IP66-rated models like the Tuya outdoor series tolerate direct rain exposure.
