Data cable is graded by category — Cat5e for 1 Gbps, Cat6/6a for 10 Gbps, Cat8 for 25/40 Gbps short runs — and by shielding, with U/UTP for indoor runs and S/FTP or outdoor-rated jackets like the SAFIRE UTP6-OUTDOOR series for exposed installs. Power and installation cable is sized by conductor cross-section in mm², while coaxial and MC4 solar cables serve CCTV and PV connections respectively.

• Category — Cat5e for basic 1 Gbps links; Cat6a or Cat8 for 10 Gbps+ or future-proofing a new install.
• Shielding — U/UTP suffices indoors away from interference; S/FTP or F/UTP is needed near power cable or in industrial settings.
