Paradox System Takeover: Engineering Without the Installer Code

Inherited an SP, MG or EVO installation with no working installer access? We assess what's actually there, work within any existing access, and — only when required — run a full reset-and-recommission with new documentation to match.

How we approach a Paradox takeover

How we approach a Paradox takeover

01

On-site identification

We open the panel and identify the series (SP, MG or EVO), wiring topology, zone expanders and PGM modules already installed — no assumptions, no guesswork.

02

Work within existing access

If a working user-level code exists, we use it to map zones, test outputs and document the current configuration before deciding whether a reset is even necessary.

03

Reset only when unavoidable

Where no usable access remains, we perform a factory reset with full physical access to the panel. This is the only legitimate path — it clears all prior programming, so it's a last resort, not a default.

04

Full re-commissioning

Zones, user codes, timers and PGM output logic are rebuilt from scratch through the keypad or BabyWare, tested end-to-end, and handed over with complete new documentation.

3

Panel series, one discipline

SP, MG and EVO cover everything from simple wired installations to modular, expandable EVO systems — we work to the same engineering standard across all three.

No bypass, ever

We don't crack or guess installer codes. Where access is genuinely gone, the only route forward is a controlled factory reset and full reprogramming — never a shortcut.

Accurate series & config ID

Panel model, expander count, PGM assignments and wireless (Magellan) zones are catalogued on-site before any decision is made about scope.

PGM & relay logic rebuilt

Gate control, lighting relays and third-party interfaces wired through PGM outputs are reprogrammed and tested, not left as an afterthought.

Insite Gold reconnected

Where an IP150 or GSM/mobile module is present, remote access via Insite Gold is reconfigured as part of the handover — it won't work without that module, and we tell you plainly if it's missing.

New documentation, not guesses

Every rebuilt system leaves with a written configuration record — zones, code structure and PGM logic — so the next engineer never faces this problem again.

Options

Scoped and quoted like a fresh commissioning job

A takeover isn't cheaper than a new installation once a reset is required — it's priced the same way, for the same reason.

  • On-site panel and wiring survey
  • Existing configuration assessment
  • Factory reset (only if unavoidable)
  • Complete zone, code and PGM rebuild
  • Full documentation handover
FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Can you bypass or recover the original installer code?

No. We don't offer code cracking or bypass techniques — reputable engineering practice doesn't work that way. If no usable access remains, the only legitimate path is a factory reset followed by full reprogramming.

What if the previous installer's code doesn't work but a user code does?

We start there. A working user-level code lets us assess zones and outputs without touching the existing programming, which can mean no reset is needed at all.

Does a factory reset really wipe everything?

Yes — zones, codes, timers and PGM logic all return to default. That's why it's treated as a last resort and scoped as a full recommissioning project, not a quick fix.

How is a takeover project priced?

The same way a fresh installation is: by the number of zones, PGM outputs and integrations to rebuild. We quote after the on-site assessment, not before.

Will the Insite Gold app still work afterwards?

Only if an IP150 or GSM/mobile module is already connected to the panel — the app doesn't function without one. We reconfigure it as part of the handover if the hardware is present.

Inherited a Paradox system you don't fully control?

Send us the panel details and we'll tell you honestly what's achievable before any work begins.
