How a 0-10V control pair is wired
Keep the control pair separate from mains
0-10V and 1-10V run on a dedicated low-voltage DC pair from dimmer to driver, physically kept apart from the mains supply wiring — never share conduit or terminal blocks between the two.
Match source and sink types
The dimmer and driver must use compatible source/sink current convention and correct polarity — a legacy of IEC 60929 fluorescent-ballast wiring that still governs modern LED-driver control inputs — or dimming won't behave correctly.
Know your off-state before you commit
0V drives a compliant driver fully off through the control line itself; 1-10V's floor sits at 1V, a dim but non-zero output that needs a separate mains switch or relay to go fully dark. Many drivers sold as '0-10V' actually behave like 1-10V — verify against the datasheet, don't assume.
Wire zones, not addresses
Every driver on the same control pair receives the same voltage and dims together as one zone — there's no per-driver address or feedback. Decide zone boundaries at design time; splitting a zone later means running a new pair.

Source/sink compatibility
Source and sink describe which side of the pair supplies current. Mismatch the dimmer's and driver's source/sink type, or get the polarity wrong, and dimming will misbehave or fail outright.
One pair, one zone
0-10V is analog, not addressable — no per-fixture address, no digital bus, no status feedback to the controller. Independent zones need independent control pairs, planned at install time.
Physically separate from mains wiring
The control pair carries a low-voltage DC signal and stays physically separate from mains cabling throughout the run, from dimmer to the last driver in the zone.

Frequently asked questions
What's the actual difference between 0-10V and 1-10V?
Both use the same 0-10V voltage range and wiring convention, but a compliant 0-10V driver can be driven fully off at 0V through the control line, while 1-10V's usable range bottoms out at 1V — a low but non-zero output. A 1-10V-only fixture needs a separate mains switch or relay to go fully dark.
Is 0-10V the same thing as DALI?
No. 0-10V is an analog voltage signal, is not individually addressable, and gives no feedback — every driver on the same pair dims together as one zone. DALI (IEC 62386) is digital, individually addressable, provides status feedback, and needs its own commissioning step. Neither is simply 'better' — the choice depends on whether the project needs per-fixture or scene control (DALI) or zone-level dimming is enough (0-10V).
Can I group or scene fixtures with 0-10V like I would with DALI?
Not in software. Any grouping with 0-10V means physically wiring a subset of drivers to their own separate control pair, decided at installation — there's no addressing or scene engine to reconfigure later.
