Where should the hub or controller physically sit?
Close to the backbone entry point (patch panel, KNX line coupler or network switch), in a ventilated, accessible spot — we map this against your zones rather than defaulting to one location.
Do I need structured Ethernet, or is a wireless mesh enough for the backbone?
It depends on which functions you're running and how firm the wired-vs-wireless decision already is; we plan the backbone route to match what was decided, not add a new debate.
What's the practical difference between a sensor, actuator, controller and gateway?
A sensor reports a condition, an actuator changes something (a relay, a dimmer), a controller makes decisions, and a gateway bridges protocols — planning which device plays which role avoids buying the wrong class of hardware.
How much should phase one cost compared to phase two?
We don't quote fixed figures — it depends on home size, existing wiring and your goals. We frame the tiers as scope, then your integrator or supplier prices the real numbers.
Will Matter/Thread let me skip choosing an ecosystem carefully?
Not yet. Matter/Thread is still maturing and improves cross-brand compatibility for some device classes, but it doesn't replace a deliberate ecosystem and topology plan today.
