Ajax vs Satel: Which System to Choose?

The two most specified systems in European premium security installations — the practical choice depends on project type, not brand preference.

The fundamental difference

Ajax Systems

Wireless-first system from Ukraine. Designed for retrofit, no-drill installations and premium residential. Beautiful app, strong encryption, modern UX.

  • ✓ No cabling required (Jeweller)
  • ✓ Excellent iOS/Android app
  • ✓ Fast installation
  • ✓ Cloud monitoring included
  • ✗ Higher cost per zone
  • ✗ Limited 3rd party integrations

Satel Integra

Wired alarm panel from Poland. Industry standard for commercial and large residential. Mature ecosystem, deep third-party integrations, KNX module available.

  • ✓ Up to 256 zones (Integra 256)
  • ✓ Deep KNX integration (INT-KNX)
  • ✓ Mature monitoring protocols
  • ✓ Lower cost at scale
  • ✗ Requires cable installation
  • ✗ Older UI / app experience

Decision guide

✓ Choose Ajax when:

  • Residential project (apartment, villa) up to 50–100 zones
  • Retrofit — no cable routes possible or disruptive
  • Client wants a modern mobile app experience
  • Project timeline is tight (wireless installation is 3–5× faster)
  • Cloud monitoring via Ajax Cloud is acceptable
  • Fibra wired available where needed (basement, EMC areas)

✓ Choose Satel Integra when:

  • Commercial building with 50–256 zones
  • Deep KNX integration required (INT-KNX module provides direct bus connection)
  • Professional monitoring station requires Contact ID or SIA protocol
  • Project has cabling infrastructure already planned
  • Long-term reliability critical (schools, hospitals, government)
  • EN 50131-3 Grade 3 certification required

Can you combine Ajax and Satel?

Yes — and it's occasionally the right answer for complex projects. A common hybrid: Satel Integra as the main alarm panel (monitoring, zone management, EN 50131 certification), with Ajax used purely for wireless sensor expansion in difficult-to-cable areas. Ajax Hub outputs (WallSwitch) can connect to Satel zone inputs. However, this adds cost and programming complexity — only worth it when each system's strengths are genuinely needed in the same project.
