RFID

RFID access hardware identifies a credential over radio at a reader, replacing or supplementing physical keys at doors and gates.

125 kHz proximity cards are low-cost and read-only; 13.56 MHz Mifare cards support encrypted, rewritable credentials. Smart lock cylinders add fingerprint, PIN and Bluetooth entry.

  • Frequency — 125 kHz for simple access, 13.56 MHz Mifare for encrypted cards
  • Credential — cards, key fobs or NFC tags matched to the reader's frequency
  • Cylinder size — specified in mm (e.g. 60–90 mm) to fit door thickness
