NFC cards, chips, tags

NFC cards, chips, tags are 13.56 MHz credentials read at short range by a reader or smartphone, for access and one-tap automation.

NTAG21x tags are read/write and phone-compatible, good for automation; Mifare Classic and DESFire cards add sector encryption for credentials that must not be copied freely.

  • Chip type — NTAG21x for open tags, Mifare Classic/DESFire for encrypted access
  • Memory — larger memory (NTAG216 vs NTAG213) fits more automation data
  • Format — ISO card, key fob or sticker, chosen for mounting or carry method
